First McDonald's
Post war was a jubilant time for many Americans. Life seemed to change for the better. Many inventions and industries came after the war. For example, McDonald's, founded in 1948. Two brothers, who resided in San Bernardino, California, saw that many working American family's were in need of a cheap meal that was also cheap. Also after World War 2 Americans were afraid of bombs which sparked an industry of backyard bomb shelters.

Before, in the final stages of the war, the U.S. was trying to close out the war. They threatened Japan with an atomic bomb attack which led to Japan surrendering August 10, 1945. Japan accepted the Potsdam Declaration, which was a surrender. It was then accepted on September 2, 1945 by U.S. General Douglas MacArthur. America had about 500,000 combat deaths in the war.

At the end of the war there was a global shift in power from Europe to the U.S and the Soviet Union. 3 years later Cold War started between two world powers, the U.S and the Soviet Union. The reasons the war started is because Truman disliked Soviet Union dictator of Socialist Republics Joseph Stalin. Also After the war African Americans would move to northern cities hoping for better jobs and to escape the poverty of the south. They encountered housing discrimination and had to move into neighborhood called ghettos.
