Italian Politics after WWII

During WWII, one of Italy's biggest parties was the Fascist party. The leader of the Fascist party was Benito Mussolini. After World War II,in 1946, Italy created three political parties. These three parties were the Christian Democrats,Italian Socialist, and Italian Communist. The Italian Communist and the Christian Democrats were in competition for forty years. After World War II,some Italian business workers began to form trade unions. In northern and central Italy the Italian Communist party dominated these trade unions. When the Cold War started the socialist could not compete with the communist and the democrats. This caused the socialist to have to split up. Most of the socialist, being liberal, chose to join the communist.

Treaty with Italy

After surrendering to the Allied powers,Italy had to pay reparations to Yugoslavia,Greece, the Soviet Union, and Ethiopia. Italy had to stop all of its armed forces from attacking the Allied powers immediately. They had to try their best not to come in contact with the Germans. The Allied powers forced Italy to return all prisoners that were captured to the Commander and Chief. These are some of the consequences that Italy had to face after World WarII.
